Let’s Talk About Monsters

Monsters are everywhere!

In fiction, at least. Fantasy and horror have a particular affinity for monsters, and I’m not really a horror writer (although a few of my characters might beg to differ). From faeries to hellhounds, fantasy monsters run the gamut of inoffensive to deadly (hellhounds are just some villain’s good boi puppers, of course!).

But which is your favorite? And I’m going to rule out dragons because they’re just such a polarizing answer. If you like dragons best, want to ride one, pet one, have one incinerate your boss… super. Now think of your second favorite.

For me, I think I’m going to go with Mind Flayers (Illithids). They’re a classic D&D monster for that old-school feel. They’re hyper-intelligent, psionic, and look like someone took Cthulhu shopping at a Halloween store. Except that the candy, in this case, is brains.

You are what you eat, after all 😉
